Here for your benefit are links to the preeminent ADR organizations, agencies and companies involved in mediation/arbitration within the State of Michigan.

The Academy has worked cooperatively with various bodies to ensure that only the most experienced professionals are included in our member roster. Note though that there are no formal certification requirements for the private practice of mediation and arbitration in Michigan.

Court Rules / Governance

Michigan Supreme Court - Office of Dispute Resolution

The Office of Dispute Resolution (ODR) coordinates the ADR services of the State Court Administrative Office. The office's primary purposes include: increasing the awareness of dispute resolution options among the legal system's many constituents, assisting judicial stakeholders to integrate dispute resolution processes within the traditional litigation system, administering the Community Dispute Resolution Program, and identifying and developing specialized dispute resolution programs and services.

The ODR is responsible for developing dispute resolution practices and protocols for the trial courts, providing technical assistance to the trial courts, implementing dispute resolution practices mandated or permitted by court rule or statute, evaluating dispute resolution systems, and providing recommendations to the state court administrator for improving dispute resolution services for Michigan citizens. State Bar of Michigan - ADR Section

The Bar's ADR Section provides members of the State Bar of Michigan and the general public with creative leadership in the dispute resolution field. The Section fosters diversity in the profession; develops and offers educational programs; promotes access to dispute resolution alternatives; monitors legislative and judicial activity; and provides policy guidance, information, and technical assistance on ethical issues, dispute resolution techniques, and training design. The Section also produces publications which promote wider use and excellence in the provision of alternative problem-solving techniques and dispute resolution services. Michigan Mediates!

Michigan Mediates! is a nonprofit initiative developed to educate the public about the use of mediation in a variety of contexts. Their website is designed to help the public learn about mediation and its advantages as a method of solving problems. Michigan Mediates is a project of Dispute Resolution Education Resources, Inc. (DRER) in conjunction with the State Bar of Michigan's ADR Section. The Michigan Mediates! Advisory Committee also includes representatives of the Community Dispute Resolution Program(CDRP) and individual CDRP centers. For more info, visit www.michiganmediates.net.
