Biographical

Lisa W. Timmons is a full-time neutral with more than 28 years of experience in labor, employment, and commercial matters. She serves as an arbitrator, mediator, hearing officer, and fact-finder, working across the public and private sectors to resolve complex workplace and business disputes.

Timmons serves on the rosters of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS), the Labor Relations Connection (LRC), New Era ADR, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and numerous state and municipal labor boards. She is a standing arbitrator for the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) in the Detroit District, Arkansas, California, Delaware, and Nevada, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) in Illinois, and the United States Postal Service. She has also mediated more than 1,500 cases through the USPS REDRESS Program.

Timmons earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, her Master of Arts in Dispute Resolution from Wayne State University, and her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Michigan State University.

She is the Executive Director and senior member of Professional Resolution Experts of Michigan (PREMi), Immediate Past Chair of the ADR Section of the State Bar of Michigan, Co-Chair of the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution’s Mediation Committee for 2025 to 2026, and Neutral Co-Chair of the ABA Labor and Employment Law Section’s State and Local Government Bargaining and Employment Law Committee for 2025 to 2028.

A former adjunct professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, Timmons regularly writes and speaks on alternative dispute resolution topics. She is the Editor of The Michigan Dispute Resolution Journal and a contributing author for the State Bar of Michigan Labor and Employment Law Section.
