Biographical

Judge Widgeon has served as a neutral since 1994. She is a former trial judge from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her practice is now national in scope, spanning multiple cities in over 20 states. Judge Widgeon mediates for private corporations, such as Darden Restaurants, and serves as a Labor and Employment Arbitrator for the AAA, as a Labor Arbitrator for FMCS, and as a Fact Finder in the public sector.

Judge Widgeon’s work as a neutral is almost evenly distributed among the areas of Mediation and Arbitration throughout the U.S., Fact Finding for the states of Michigan and Ohio and Visiting Judge appointments within the State of Michigan. A major portion of her mediation practice has involved conflict management, workplace disputes, including workplace violence, wrongful discharge, and hostile work environment, claims of race and gender discrimination and insurance negotiations from personal injury matters.

During her tenure at the court, Judge Widgeon encouraged settlements in civil disputes and assisted numerous parties in partially fashioning their own resolutions in lieu of continuing through to a judicial order. After retiring from the judiciary, Judge Widgeon trained extensively in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution. Currently, she mediates and arbitrates disputes involving labor, employment, consumer, probate, family, education and general civil matters. She also continues to preside over the State of Michigan civil and criminal court dockets as an admired and respected Visiting Judge.
